Strong card for ‘extra’ Roscommon Race meeting

A ninth day of racing at the Roscommon Racecourse will take place on Monday next, October 17th, which will complete the schedule for the 2016 season at the Lenebane track. The first white flag will be raised at 2.05 pm.

The final meeting had been planned for September 26th, but after terrible weather it was cancelled. The committee are delighted to have got a replacement date that will see a strong National Hunt Card, which always attracts a good following in this region.

“We were all set for our final meeting two weeks ago until the weather took a turn for the worse but thankfully, it’s all systems go again. Followers should note that the European Breeder’s Fund Kilbegnet Novice Steeplechase will not be run at this meeting, but we still have a strong seven-race card to look forward to,” said racecourse manager, Michael Finneran.

“We’re delighted to have the opportunity to welcome all our loyal followers and supporters in the business community to the track in the month of October before we wrap things up for the year as far as racing is concerned, though the work doesn’t stop there as we have a busy winter of work ahead of us as we push on with our Capital Development Plan,” Mr. Finneran added.

Monday’s card is made up of four hurdles, two chases and a bumper. The sponsors for the day are OCR Waste Management, On Course Vets and Ms. Helen Mee O’Farrelly. Patrons should note that any tickets from the cancelled meeting on September 26th are eligible for use at next Monday’s meeting.

The will be music in the main bar after the second last race with Henry & The Usual Suspects. Ros Special: Admission, race card, two-course meal and a €10 betting voucher.
