Strokestown to host 17th annual Easter Parade

Strokestown is set for its 17th annual Easter Parade this Sunday at 2 pm. The parade is setting off at the earlier time of 2 pm due to the Roscommon v Mayo football clash at Hyde Park.

The parade will be taking its usual route through the town and will as always have a number of floats depicting all levels of activity in the region. Pipe bands from Monaghan and Tullamore will also be present.

The organisers are hoping that there will be many memories from 1916 on the day with special prizes for the best depictions of 1916.

The organising committee are also hoping that some of the local schools will turn out with some of their 1916 school projects, which have looked excellent on display in recent weeks.

Commercial entries cost €25 with all community floats from the region gaining free admission.

Strokestown Community Development Association have also wished the staff at Strokestown Park House the very best with their Easter Egg Hunt and indeed the launch of their 1916 exhibition on Easter Monday.

Strokestown will once again have lots to offer the whole family this Easter Sunday!
