The annual Strokestown Show, which was held at the weekend, proved to be a resounding success with the beautiful weather conditions making for a great atmosphere over the two days and an enjoyable weekend for all.    Saturday saw all the competitions in the cattle and sheep classes with various All-Irelands taking place in different sections, particularly in the cattle classes where there was some of the finest livestock in the country on display.   On Sunday there were horses, ponies and dogs on show.    Meanwhile the highlight of the day was the Strokestown Rose competition which was won by Therese Fallon, Clooncagh, Strokestown.   There was plenty to see and do over the entire weekend for the crowds in attendance. There were several novelty competitions on the Sunday including the ‘Bonnie Baby’ competition, the ‘Most Appropriately Dressed Lady’ and the ‘Glamorous Granny’ competitions.   There were bouncing castles and bronco bulls present to keep the children entertained and there were amusements in town also to provide another source of entertainment over the weekend.   There was also a tug o’war contest on Sunday evening which attracted much interest.     Overall it was a very successful weekend which was enjoyed greatly by everyone in attendance and did much to confirm Strokestown’s reputation as one of the best Agricultural Shows in Ireland.
