Still no sign of mental health report

It “beggars belief” that the deadline for the external review into mental health services in County Roscommon has been missed yet again.

That’s the view of Fianna Fáil TD for Roscommon/Galway Eugene Murphy.

Senator Maura Hopkins said it is essential that the report be made available as quickly as possible.

She said: “On February 21st last, Minister McEntee informed me that this report was to be completed by early March. It is completely unacceptable that the report has not been made available as of yet.”

Deputy Murphy pointed out that this external review had commenced in August 2015 and he stressed that repeated delays in the delivery of the report were “simply not acceptable.”

He noted that a new deadline of early March was initially given and then changed to the end of March. This deadline has also been missed.

Reflecting on “another missed deadline, another broken promise,” he said the people of Roscommon have waited long enough for this external review.
