St Brigid’s are through to the AIB Connacht Club SFC final but they made hard work of defeating a gritty Mohill side at Dr Hyde Park on Sunday.
Mohill had the strong wind at their backs in the first half and by the interval they led by 0-4 to 0-3 with all Brigid’s’ scores coming from frees.
It took Jerome Stack’s men 13 minutes to forge ahead with points from Ronan Stack and sub Brian Derwin.
The match-winning goal came in the 46th minute, a sweeping move finished by Ciaran Sugrue. Brigid’s led by 1-7 to 0-5 by the 54th minute.
A late Mohill surge yielded three points but Brigid’s survived and now they face Corofin in two weeks time, also in Dr Hyde Park.
Final score: St Brigid’s 1-7 Mohill 0-8.
