St Brigid’s clinched their 18th Roscommon SFC title in dramatic circumstances at Dr Hyde Park today as they inched past Boyle who had the harrowing experience of losing a second senior championship final in a row by a single point.

In glorious weather conditions the opening half was very cagey, with the sides going in level at 0-5 each.

Brigid’s were the better side in the third quarter and led by 0-11 to 0-7 after 47 minutes, before Boyle battled back.

Points from Niall O’Donnell, Tadhg McKenna and Cian McKeon left the minimum margin in it in the final minute.

Man of the match Paul McGrath kicked a superb point for Brigid’s but McKeon replied with a pointed free in the 62nd minute.

Indeed Boyle had a chance to send the match into extra-time but Cian McKeon’s effort from 35 metres fell short and Brigid’s had hung on.

Final score: St Brigid’s 0-12 Boyle 0-11.
