All-Ireland Colleges Senior Football ‘C’ semi-final: St. Aloysius College, Athlone v Scoil Pobal, Kenmare (Friday at 3 pm at Meelick, Limerick City). Note change of venue. St. Aloysius College, Athlone, who have several Roscommon players in their ranks, face the Munster champions Kenmare in the delayed All-Ireland Colleges ‘C’ semi-final tomorrow (Friday) at 1.30 pm. The original game was postponed because of a tragic car accident that affected the Kenmare school. That postponement has meant that St. Aloysius have one of their most influential players, Daniel Qualter, back and available for selection as he was away with the Connacht Schools rugby team last weekend. St. Aloysius are managed by Bobby Purtill and the team trainer is Willie Hegarty who spoke to The People on Wednesday. ‘We are looking forward to the game. We are delighted that Daniel Qualter is back and for the first time in the entire championship we have a full squad to pick from which is a big boost. We know that playing against any Kerry team is a tough prospect and this will be no different’ he said. ‘They have two excellent players in the two O’Sullivan brothers (who are sons of Limerick senior team manager Mickey Ned O’Sullican) so we will have our hands full – however we are ready for the fray’ he said. Our team has trained really hard and our players came in four times over the Easter Holidays which shows the level of the players’ commitment. ‘We have been thrilled with the great response we have got and we have prepared well. ‘We are confident we can do well in this game and hopefully we can win it. It would be a great achievement to get to an All-Ireland final. If we play well on the day we will be hard to beat’ Willie concluded.
