Srah flooding ‘must be addressed’

The need to tackle flooding at Srah, Knockcroghery was highlighted this week by Cllr. Domnick Connolly, who said that a permanent solution has to be found to this on-going problem. ‘This stretch of road, between the Roscommon to Knockcroghery road and the junction of the Ballymurray to Rahara road, is prone to flooding and local residents have to suffer this inconvenience every time there is heavy rainfall,’ stated Cllr. Connolly. ‘This problem was also raised recently at the Rahara/Knockcroghery Fine Gael branch AGM as it is causing problems for both motorists and pedestrians who find it difficult to pass when the road has flooded. ‘Although some works have been carried out in the past to try to alleviate this problem, it remains on-going and I am now calling on the council to tackle this problem with a view to resolving it on a permanent basis. I am now requesting that the council would provide funding to upgrade this entire stretch of road as soon as possible,’ stated Cllr. Connolly.
