Kilbride beat Gaels Just as we went to press People Sport received the news that Kilbride won a vital relegation encounter with neighbours Roscommon Gaels by the narrowest of margins. O’Rourke Cup Division One result from Wednesday (last night): Kilbride 0-12 Roscommon Gaels 0-11.  Winners in Cumann na mbunscoil finals In the Cumann na mbunscoil football finals played in Dr. Hyde Park on Wednesday (last night) the victors were as follows – in the Top Schools final Creagh NS beat Abbey NS, Roscommon; in the Large Schools final Gaelscoil, Roscommon beat Strokestown; in the 3 and 4 teacher final Roxboro defeated Ballinagare and in the 2 teacher final Rahara were winners over Woodbrook.  Castlerea Ladies’ Golf The competition sponsored by Hayden Shoes was won by Caitriona Newman on 40 pts. The club prize was won by Mary Kenny 39 pts. The Ladies Challenge Cup Team had a great win over Mountbellew and meet Tuam in the next round on June 16th. Members of the winning team were: Margaret Bredin, Bernadette Moran, Maura Kelly, Irene Burke, and Mary Patterson. Well done ladies. The Lady President’s (Irene Burke) prize will be played for on Tuesday June 10th and Saturday June 14th. Creggs RFC AGM  Creggs Rugby Club AGM takes place at 8.30 pm on Friday next, June 13th at the Clubhouse. All members are requested to attend this very important meeting.  FBD GAA Golf Challenge A call for entries for the 2008 FBD All-Ireland GAA Golf Challenge has been sounded to all GAA clubs in Connacht.  The FBD All-Ireland Golf Challenge allows GAA clubs from across Ireland and abroad to compete for an All-Ireland title on a completely level par, without restrictions.   Claremorris Golf Club will host the Connacht final of the competition on Friday, August 8th and teams gunning for All-Ireland glory will include Claremorris of Mayo and Allen Gaels of Leitrim.  Claremorris are defending provincial champions after their victory over St. Aidan’s of Roscommon. They are also the only Connacht representatives to have won the All-Ireland final of the competition since it began in 2000.  Limited spaces remain. To be in with a chance to claim an All-Ireland victory visit www.gaagolf.com and download an application form. Michael Glaveys Club Notes Under 14 Team play St. Ronan’s on Thursday in Ballyfarnon at 7 pm. An U 10 blitz for girls by St. Ronan’s Club on Saturday 21st June at 2 pm. All clubs in the county are invited to same.   The ladies county board are running a level 1 referees course on Saturday 28th/ Sunday 29th of June. Oran Club Notes The Donamon Tarmacadem Oran junior B side started their championship on Saturday last against St. Brigids. Oran 2-3, St. Brigids 2-9. This game was up for grabs with six minutes remaining and then Brigids goaled twice to seal the contest. Oran led at half-time 2-3 to 0-5 with Joe Cassidy getting both goals and the points coming from Billy Donnellan and Shane McDermott. This was a great gutsy performance by all concerned and we just fell short to a fine Brigids team. Oran: D McDermott, J. Monaghan (capt.), P. Regan, A. Hannon, D. Varley, E. Morris, P. Varley C.
