This weekend’s Eircom league Premier Division games: Cork City v Longford Town (Fri): Longford Town are having a rough time and it’s unlikley to get any better at Turners Cross where City are very hard to beat. They put seven past Portadown in the Setanta Cup during the week which spells bad news for The Town. Verdict: Cork City Drogheda v Derry City (Fri): Game of the night – both sides going well. Maybe home advantage to count – just. Verdict: Drogheda. St. Patrick’s Athletic v Bray (Fri): Pats are flying at the top of the table. They should consolidate against Wanderers. Verdict: Pats. Waterford v Bohemians (Fri): It’s all a bit of a struggle for Waterford at the moment. Bohs not exactly setting the world on fire either. Verdict: A hesitant vote for an away win. Shamrock Rovers v Galway United (Fri): Interesting game between two teams that could do with the boost of a good win. They could cancel each other out. Verdict: draw. Sligo v UCD (Sat): Sligo are sailing along well despite their boardroom troubles. The students are well organised but the trip to the North West might be too much. Verdict: Sligo Rovers. This weekend in the First Division it’s Athlone Town v Dundalk at Oriel Park – Thursday night at 8pm – first versus second on the First Division table. More on Athlone Town next week.
