Sinéad in line for ‘Idol’ prize!

Roscommon Harriers coach and personal trainer, Sinéad Gannon, has been nominated as one of five ‘Idols’ with a chance of winning a trip to the Rock ‘n’ Roll Las Vegas Marathon and Half Marathon on November 12th.

The marathon series is held at 27 different locations throughout the world and features live bands performing along the routes. Participants with inspiring stories are given the chance to win a trip to a marathon location and Sinéad’s ‘Idol’ story has made the shortlist.

Sinéad’s promising juvenile athletics career was ended by a serious hamstring injury. After being sidelined for 12 years, Sinéad decided to start running again on her own. She was quickly joined by others and now she has 130 people running with her in Roscommon town.

Last year, along with three fellow members of Roscommon Harriers, she ran the Dublin City Marathon in aid of Croí. This year she will be running the marathon once again, accompanied by Archie Naughton in a running buggy, as part of ‘Miles For Our Boys’ and the Join Our Boys Trust, which aims to raise awareness of Duchenne’s Muscular Dystrophy.
