‘We’re enjoying our football!’
John McManus will be sitting out Sunday’s game against Monaghan after his red card against Kerry. While he admits that he is very disappointed that he won’t be playing, he is adamant that the spirit in the Roscommon camp is excellent with the players enjoying their football and he says that a win is the target for the team on Sunday.
“I’m disappointed that I won’t be playing on Sunday because I had a good run in the team recently but there will be plenty of lads to step in. Training is going well and there is a great spirit in the camp. From some of the coverage we have been getting recently, you might think the camp is in turmoil but nothing could be further from the truth. We are all enjoying our football and everyone is very happy and determined to do well.
“We still have a target of two wins from the matches against Monaghan and Cavan and let’s see what happens in Croke Park. The mood is excellent and Roscommon will be travelling to Monaghan to win. I would say most of the Roscommon players have never played in Inniskeen before but the preparations have been excellent and we have a great chance going up there.
“We are aiming for two wins. It might not save us from relegation but we are looking ahead to the summer and we will be giving it everything on Sunday,” he concluded.
