* Roscommon’s U-21 team played against Kerry in a very competitive challenge game in Ennis last weekend. Roscommon were beaten in the game but the team management were happy with the display as Roscommon were short one or two players. More challenge games have been scheduled for the next few weeks. * Roscommon’s minor football team played and beat Laois in a very competitive challenge game last weekend in Hyde Park. The Connacht minor league starts in two weeks’ time. * The Roscommon ladies county board will host this year’s annual congress of the Ladies Football Association. The congress will he held at the Athlone Springs Hotel on the weekend after next – March 7th, 8th and 9th. The Annual Camogie Congress will also be held in Rocommon this year – in the Hodson Bay Hotel. * The Cork senior football team will be travelling to County Roscommon on Saturday night in preparation for the league game on Sunday. They have asked the St. Brigids club’s permission for a run-out on the Kiltoom pitch on Saturday evening. * Cork played Wexford in a challenge game last Sunday and won by 2-6 to 0-8. The Cork scorers were: Kieran O’Sullivan (1-2), Donnacha O’Connor (0-3), John Miskella (1-0) and Nicholas Murphy (0-1). * Cork will not select their team until tonight (Thursday) because they have several players involved in the Sigerson Cup quarter-finals. * There were over 80 players present for the trials for the county U-16 football team at the weekend. More trials will be held in the coming weeks.
