‘Shear’ pride in club jersey!

Intense inter-club rivalry of a different kind will be on display in Loughnaneane Park this Sunday as members of local GAA clubs vie for the county sheep shearing title.

Last year, St. Brigid’s won the inaugural event, earning a prize fund of €1,000 for the club. The club was represented on the day by Liam and Sean Dolan. Runners-up at last year’s event, St. Aidan’s, will be hoping to go one better this year and beat their south Roscommon rivals. Last year the St. Aidan’s team of John Kennedy and Micheál Keane won second for their local club, and third place last year went to Tremane.

Pride in the club jersey will be evident at Sunday’s competition which gets underway at 1 pm and there will also be a number of spot prizes up for grabs on the day.
