Leitrim native Shane Tiernan has this week been appointed as the new Chief Executive of Roscommon County Council officially succeeding Eugene Cummins in the role following a period as Acting Chief Executive.
The Leitrim native was first employed as Returning Officer by the Council in 2018 and has previously served as Director of Services.
Addressing members at Monday’s monthly meeting, Mr Tiernan said he was “absolutely humbled” to be appointed to the role, and “honoured and privileged” to receive the full support of members and the Council’s executive.
The new Chief Executive has been appointed for a seven-year period with the option of a further
three.
