Around 3,500 senior nursing and midwifery staff are due to begin industrial action in the form of a work-to-rule from Tuesday, September 29.
The dispute involves Directors and Assistant Directors of Nursing and Midwifery, along with linked grades including Advanced Nurse and Midwife Practitioners and nurse and midwife tutors.
The workers are represented by the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation, Psychiatric Nurses Association and SIPTU.
The unions say the dispute centres on the non-implementation of proposals to modernise the pay and grading structures applying to senior nursing and midwifery management.
Staff involved work across general hospitals, psychiatric services, community healthcare, public health nursing, maternity and paediatric services, long-term care and palliative care.
The unions say the existing system used to determine senior nursing and midwifery management pay has been an outstanding issue for several years.
The industrial action comes as a separate dispute involving psychiatric nurses is also due to affect services in the West and North-West.
