Seminar on Women and addiction

A seminar on substance abuse and addiction will be held on Thursday, April 17th at 7.30 pm in The White House Hotel in Ballinlough. The seminar will focus on addiction in relation to women and the unique ways in which addiction affects women. This seminar will provide discussion and information on understanding substance abuse and addiction; the effects on families and communities; signs and symptoms to watch out for in young adults; what to do and say when warning signs are noticed; supports and services in the County Roscommon and guests will also hear one woman’s own story of living with and controlling addiction. The speakers will include addiction counsellors, members of the Western Region Drugs Task force and HSE who specialise and have experience working in these specific areas of addiction and substance abuse. Roscommon Women’s Network, Community Development Project (CDP) is organising this seminar with funding received from the Western Region Drugs Taskforce. Everyone is welcome. There is no admission charge. The seminar will be followed by a question and answer /open discussion session at approximately 8.45 pm and refreshments and a light finger buffet will be served at 9.15 pm.
