Second place for Tarmonbarry Macra

Members of Tarmonbarry Macra club achieved second place at the national finals of the Macra na Feirme amateur drama competition last weekend. ‘Too Long an Autumn’ by Jimmie Chin was awarded second place at the national finals. Tarmonbarry also scooped the Best Actress award, which went to Elizabeth Leavy for her portrayal of Maisie May in ‘Too Long an Autumn’. The event, which was held over two nights in the Mountmellick Community Arts centre, Co. Laois, saw six clubs from around the country vying for top spot in the competition. First place went to Tullyallen club from county Louth with their production of ‘Between Mouthfuls’ by Alan Auckbourn and third place went to Clonakilty from Carbery in Cork with’ Till We Meet Again’ by Colin & Mary Crowther. The Best Actor accolade went to Shane Roche, Tullyallen for his portrayal of Mr Pearce in ‘Between Mouthfuls’, with the Best producer went to John Kelly, Tullyallen for ‘Between Mouthfuls’.
