Electric Ireland Connacht MFC (Round 3)
Roscommon 5-15
Leitrim 0-8
Roscommon scored 4-10 in the second half as they put Leitrim to the sword at Dr. Hyde Park and they will now meet Sligo after they beat Mayo, also on Friday night, in a ‘must win’ game in the final round of games in this Connacht championship round-robin competition.
The sides were evenly matched in the opening half and it was Aaron Oyiki’s late goal that saw the home side edge ahead at the break 1-5 to 0-4. But once Roscommon got going in the second half it was one-way traffic.
Clann player Oyiki blasted home goal number two ten minutes into the new half. Adam McDermott scored a fine goal in the 44th minute and Ronan Garvin added a fourth for Roscommon before McDermott capped a fine display from the home side with a fifth goal late in the game. Now it all comes down to that clash with Sligo at the end of June.
