The Seachtain na Gaeilge quiz takes place in the County Board Office, Castle View, Roscommon on Friday, 29th February at 8 pm. The quiz, which will be conducted wholly through the medium of Irish, forms part of the GAA’s contribution to the Seachtain na Gaeilge events. After all, one of the stated aims of the GAA is the promotion of Irish language and culture. Scór Roscommon, promoters of the competition would like to see all GAA clubs entering at least one team in this competition. The top three teams in Roscommon go forward to the Connacht Final, and if they are successful there, to the All-Ireland Final which takes place in Croke Park on St. Patrick’s Day, prior to the All-Ireland Club Football and Hurling Finals. It’s sure to be a great night’s entertainment with 8 competitions down for decision: Figure Dancing, Solo Singing, Instrumental Music, Recitation, Ballad Group, Question Time and Set Dancing. Don’t forget that you can boost your club’s chances of winning the ‘Club of the Year’ award by taking part. Participants must be over 17 on January 1 st , 2008.
