Roscommon’s Saoirse Wynne has been named as one of the winners of the PwC GPA Women’s Player of the Month awards for August, alongside Cork camogie star Sorcha McCartan.
The August awards recognise outstanding performances during the All-Ireland Camogie and Ladies Football finals.
Wynne produced an immense defensive display in a sweeper role as Roscommon claimed the All-Ireland Intermediate Ladies Football Championship title with a convincing 2-12 to 0-06 victory over Fermanagh.
Her selfless work and determination played a major part in the Rossies’ success as they lifted the trophy for the first time in 21 years.
McCartan received the Camogie Player of the Month award following her performance in the All-Ireland Senior Camogie Championship final, as Cork defeated Galway.
