Sacred Heart Home staff ready to walk the walk!

As part of the implementation of Healthy Ireland strategy, the staff in the Sacred Heart Home in Roscommon town are taking part in the upcoming Lecarrow Walking Club’s 4th annual walk. The fundraiser walk will take place from St John’s Hall, (on the N61), Lecarrow at 2 pm on January 3rd 2016.

The Healthy Ireland Strategy aims to reduce health inequalities, protect the public from threats to health and wellbeing and create an environment where every individual and sector of society can play their part in achieving a healthy Ireland.

One of the goals of the Healthy Ireland Strategy is to improve staff health and wellbeing, thus ensuring Ireland has a resilient and healthy workforce.

Over 80 staff and residents from the Sacred Heart Hospital have declared their support for the forthcoming collaboration between the Lecarrow community and the Care Home.

Over the last three years the Lecarrow Walking Club has raised almost €30,000 for various charities including the Sunflower Rooms in Knockcroghery National School, Cystic Fibrosis Midlands Branch, Mayo/Roscommon Hospice, The Irish Heart Foundation and St. John’s National School.

Now this year, in association with Roscommon Sport Partnership, they have chosen the Patient Comfort Fund at the Sacred Heart Hospital.
