Reaction: Michael Ryan (Roscommon manager). ‘I’m happy enough with the result. It’s great to win the Hastings Cup: we showed great strength in depth to win it and we’re delighted with the silverware. The biggest difficulty we had before today was naming the 24-man panel: we have great strength in depth. ‘We kept a large panel since the beginning of the tournament. We felt that it was important to do this because lads are involved with the seniors and with the colleges in the Sigerson Cup. We also thought that we’d have more injuries but thankfully we were lucky enough on that front. ‘It’s full systems go for the championship after today. We’ll be playing the winners of Galway and Sligo at the end of March. The weather and the conditions will be totally different then: March will be like a different country so we’ll have to work very hard in advance of that game.’
