Rossies to resume with glamour tie against Dubs

Roscommon’s senior footballers will open their 2021 Allianz National Football League season with a glamour home tie against six-in-a-row All-Ireland champions Dublin on Sunday, May 16th. The following Sunday, Anthony Cunningham’s side will travel to face Galway, and the campaign will be completed with a home game against Kerry at Dr. Hyde Park on Sunday, May 30th.

Roscommon will play in Division 1A. The top two teams in the division will face the top two teams in Division 1B in the semi-finals, while the bottom two teams will face a relegation play-off.

Roscommon hurlers will play in Division 2B of the league and will start with an away game against Donegal on Sunday, May 8th. After that, it’s a home game against Mayo on May 15th. Then there’s a couple of weeks’ break, with the next fixture being against Kildare at home on June 6th. The campaign will end with an away fixture in Derry on June 12th.

In the Lidl Ladies National Football League, Roscommon, under new manager Diane O’Hora, will play in Division 3A, opening their campaign with a home tie against Fermanagh on May 23rd. On May 30th, Roscommon have another home fixture, against Down, and their final game will be away to Sligo on May 30th.

In the Littlewoods Camogie National League, Roscommon will operate in Division 4. Roscommon will open their campaign with a home game against Mayo on May 15th, and on May 22nd it’s an away tie against Louth. Then on May 29th, it’s a trip to face Kildare.

Inter-county teams will be allowed to commence training from Monday, May 19th. The draws for the senior football and hurling championships for 2021 will be made next week on RTÉ, with the Connacht SFC draw taking place on the Six-One News on Monday evening.
