Roscommon 3-11 Tyrone 1-12
Roscommon footballers scored one of their best league wins in many years when they defeated Tyrone by 3-11 to 1-12 at Dr Hyde Park on Sunday.
Playing with the strong breeze in the first half, Roscommon’s three point lead at the break (0-8 to 0-5) didn’t look enough.
Indeed Tyrone led by 1-9 to 0-9 by the 47th minute. But Roscommon introduced several subs who all played well and the tide turned.
Ciaráin Murtagh scored a super goal in the 51st minute and five minutes later Diarmuid Murtagh’s fisted goal saw Roscommon lead by three points 2-9 to 1-9.
Tyrone narrowed the gap to one but Roscommon finished strongly with a super Niall Daly point and a goal from Ben O’Carroll in the dying seconds.
