Rossies fall to Kingdom defeat

Allianz NFL Division One

Kerry 1-12 Roscommon 0-12

Another slow start cost Roscommon again as Davy Burke’s team went down by three points at Austin Stack, Tralee on Saturday night in front of 9,500 spectators.

Kerry dominated early on and led by 1-4 to 0-1 after 15 minutes, the Kerry goal coming from the boot of David Clifford in the 4th minute.

But three unanswered points saw Roscommon close the gap to 1-7 to 0-5 at the break.

Roscommon played their best football in the third quarter and by the 53rd minute the gap was down to three points and it was nip and tuck all the way to the finish.

Indeed Roscommon had a big penalty shout deep into injury-time when Cian McKeon was upended in the Kerry square but referee Derek O’Mahony waved away the appeals and the home side survived to take the points. Final score Kerry 1-12 to 0-12.
