All-Ireland SFC Group 3
Roscommon 0-14
Dublin 1-11
A magnificent display from Roscommon wasn’t good enough to give them their first championship win in Croke Park in 43 years but it did secure a battling draw against Dublin in a thrilling All-Ireland series game at Croke Park this afternoon.
Roscommon dominated the play in the opening half and they denied Dublin any time and space on the ball. With Ciarain Murtagh and Enda Smith outstanding, Davy Burke’s side led by 9 points to 5 at half-time.
But Dublin were much better in the second half.
John Small bundled home a goal in the 43rd minute and it was score for score after that.
Dublin led by two points – 1-11 to 0-12 – after 68 minutes but Roscommon finished strongly and pointed frees from sub Conor Cox and Donie Smith in injury-time levelled the scores.
Indeed Cox had a chance to win it in the 6th minute of injury-time but his difficult free from 55 metres was wide of the posts.
Now Roscommon will face Sligo on Sunday next in Dr Hyde Park.
