The official launch of the Roscommon Rose of Tralee 2017, held in the Abbey Hotel, Roscommon, attracted a large crowd.
The Roses and Escorts were unveiled and introduced to friends, family, sponsors and followers.
Chairperson and event co-ordinator Yvonne Corrigan-Donohue said that the Roscommon Rose of Tralee 2017 had once again received unbelievable support from throughout the county.
Yvonne thanked the businesses involved for sponsorship and urged everybody to support their local businesses.
Callington Ltd., operated by local man Martin Conneally and Offaly’s John Drea, were revealed as the main sponsor for 2017. Yvonne thanked Callington Ltd. for staying on board for the third year running, wishing them continued success.
2016 Roscommon Rose of Tralee Aisling McNeill was in attendance and was complimented and thanked by Yvonne on her amazing year representing Roscommon.
Three Judges will be tasked with the selection of the 2017 Roscommon Rose of Tralee, and they are: Nuala Cahill, the 1994 Galway Rose of Tralee; Area Sales Manager at JFC Manufacturing Co., former Sligo footballer Paul Taylor; and Patricia Corrigan, Consultancy Director at Padanee Bridal and Couture & Consultancy, Carrick-on-Shannon.
Every year the Centre sponsors a local charity or worthy cause. Yvonne paid tribute to Doireann Martin from Frenchpark who sadly recently lost her battle to DIPG.
‘A Miracle for Doireann’ had been the chosen charity for fundraising by the Roscommon Rose Centre in 2016. There was invaluable assistance from Roscommon Fire Service and Dolphin Carwash who had raised €5,424 for the worthy cause.
Details of a fundraiser to be held by the Roscommon Rose of Tralee Centre for this year’s worthy cause/charity will be announced in due course.
The 2017 Roscommon Rose of Tralee Ball and Selection Night is taking place at the Abbey Hotel on Saturday, April 15th 2017. Today FM’s Fergal D’Arcy is compere on the night.
