Youth conference The Catholic youth conference 2008 starts at 10.30 am on Saturday 21st June and ends at 5 pm on Sunday 22nd June in All Hallow’s College, Drumcondra, Dublin 9. Cost €75 residential or €50 non-residential. Legion of Mary Will you lend a helping hand by spending some time each week working with Our Lady in the Legion of Mary in the Parish?  To find out more, please come along to St. Coman’s Club, Abbey Street, on Mondays at 6:45 pm or Tuesdays at 8.30 pm.  The Legion of Mary will help you tosSee Christ in others and to serve Him there. Psychology course Vita House is now taking applications for next Autumn’s Certificate in Psychology course run in conjunction with NUI Maynooth. Closing date for applications 27th June 2008. Broadcast Mass The 10 a.m. morning Masses on this Sunday 1st June will be broadcast live from RTÉ radio. Please note change of time from the usual 10:30 am Mass on this date. Vigil Masses Saturdays 31st May will be a rehearsal for the morning Mass. You can tune in to these radio Masses on LW Radio 252 and RTE Radio 1. First holy communion Congratulations to the pupils from Schoil Mhuire and the Abbey NS  who made their First Holy Communion recently. A special word of thanks to their parents and teachers and to the choir from Abbey NS. Used mobile phones The Missionaries of the Sacred Heart novena to the Sacred Heart continues until Friday 30th May. Please note that the Missionaries of the Sacred Heart can recycle used mobile phones to raise funds for their missions in poor countries. Thank you Thank you to all those who committed themselves to the Week of Guided Prayer in the Parish. Over 60s computers Co. Roscommon Higher Education Centre in Boyle will run Computers for Beginners classes for those over the age of sixty. They will run one morning and one afternoon per week for five weeks. Charity concert Charity Concert by Annette Griffin in aid of Divine Word Missionaries will take place in Donamon Castle Church on Wednesday 4th June with guest Patrick Feeney. Tickets available at Donamon Castle and Eight Til Late (Roscommon).  Further enquiries from Divine Word Missionaries at (090) 66 62222.  The concert will take place at 8 p.m. Spanish students Would you or your family be interested in having a Spanish boy or girl, aged 12 or 13 stay in your home from the 2nd to the 30th July. Friendly families with or without children of similar age are being sought. The family would be expected to introduce the Spanish students to Irish children and to communicate well with the student. A sum of  €670 is paid for the four-week stay. The children are in school from 9.30 am-4 pm each day. Hospice volutneers Mayo Roscommon Hospice is looking for Volunteers to sell Sunflowers on National Sunflower Days 13th and 14th June in a locality of your choice.  Contact the Hospice Office on (094) 93 88666. Buy a bargain An indoor fair/market will take place on Saturday 31st May in the Hyde Centre, Roscommon from noon to 4 pm to raise funds for Roscommon Community Playgroup.  To rent a table, call Bernadette on (086) 1519607.  Problem gambling? Beat the odds, there is hope for problem gamblers. Pamphlets on Gamblers Anonymous are available in the porch of the Sacred Heart Church. Better Ireland County Roscommon Disability Support Group has been short listed for the AIB Better Ireland Awards. They plan to run summer camps for children of all abilities with funds received.
