Roscommon Rose, Aisling McNeill, officially launched this year’s Roscommon Shoebox Appeal at Hannon’s Hotel recently.
There was a strong turnout on the night and Executive Director of Team Hope Ireland, Niall Barry, was on hand to offer sincere thanks to the people of Roscommon for their continued involvement in the Shoebox Appeal.
Appeal coordinator, Emma Clapison, also provided an insight into how the work is carried out on the ground, while joint warehouse coordinator, Jean Nally, provided a demonstration on how best to put together the perfect shoebox. This involves packing toys and other suitable gifts to be delivered to children in disadvantaged areas of the world as Christmas presents.
The Shoebox Appeal Facebook page was also launched on the night and Aisling McNeill appealed to Roscommon students in particular to get behind this very worthy cause.
Hannon’s Hotel sponsored the evening and it will be broadcast on Irish TV next Monday (24th) at 6.30 pm. It’s now time to get shoeboxing! The deadline is set for Friday, November 11th and the collection of boxes can be arranged through Emma Clapison on 086-6602327.
The drop-off points for this year’s Christmas Shoebox Appeal are: Mulligan’s, Ballaghaderreen, Trojan IT Support Services, Boyle, George Bannon Sports, Gannon’s Furniture and The Melting Pot in Roscommon.
