Roscommon Rose Rebecca Collins is among the leading contenders in the betting ahead of this year’s Rose of Tralee.
The 24-year-old, who hails from Kiltoom, was quoted at 8/1 with Ladbrokes earlier this week to secure the coveted crown in Tralee.
Rebecca works as a Home Economics and religion teacher in her former secondary school, while her interests include drama and soccer. She has previously played the lead in Steel Magnolias and has won cups and leagues with her local soccer team.
Nicola McGeady of Ladbrokes said: “Roscommon have never had a winning Rose in Tralee, however the locals have high hopes for Rebecca who would be a fitting winner to wear the crown for The Rossies.”
The Rose of Tralee International Festival gets underway this Friday, August 14th, and runs until Tuesday, August 18th.
