Roscommon pupils join campaign against gum litter

Pupils from St Comán’s Wood Primary School took part in a special anti-litter roadshow in Roscommon Town as part of a campaign encouraging people to dispose of chewing gum responsibly.

Three sixth classes visited the Gum Litter Taskforce roadshow during its recent stop in the town.

The pupils joined members of Roscommon Tidy Towns, Roscommon County Council’s Environment section and representatives of the taskforce for the event.

The campaign promotes the message “Bin Your Gum When You’re Done” and seeks to highlight the environmental and financial impact of gum litter.

Jonathan Jones, Environmental Awareness and Education Officer with Roscommon County Council, addressed pupils during the event.

Students also participated in activities organised as part of the awareness roadshow.

Members of Roscommon Tidy Towns supporting the initiative included John Larkin, Kathleen Shanagher, Cáit Browne and Mark Kerrigan.
