Roscommon were defeated by Laois by four points in a very competitive SF challenge game played at Balla, Co. Mayo on Saturday night. The Roscommon team included Clan na Gael goalkeeper Colin Nicholson and featured the return to action after injury of David Casey who played well at centre half-back. Last year’s minor David O’Gara played in the half-forward line. Michael Finneran did not play because he is still injured and Rory O’Connor partnered Seamus O’Neill at midfield. The final score was Laois 1-15 Roscommon 1-11. This weekend Roscommon will will play Offaly in another SF challenge game hopefully at Dr. Hyde Park. Hyde Park was closed recently to allow for the re-sodding of the goalmouths in preparation for the Connacht SFC game against Sligo next month. Meanwhile the first two draws in the Roscommon County Board €100 Draw will be made this coming weekend. The April draw was held over and the April and May draws will be held this weekend.
