“Good numbers of stock presented for our last sale for 2018 on Thursday, December 20th with a good attendance of buyers present trying to source stock for the end of year.

  “The bullock and heifer rings reported a steady trade with strong farmer activity, while the weanling rings reported strong demand with probably the strongest price in 2018 recorded for a weanling heifer at €4.90 a kilo. 

  “Breeding stock finished on a positive note also while the dry cow trade reported prices similar to the previous week.

  “Cows with calves at foot made from €995 to €1,670 per head. Springers made from €920 to €1,390 while young calves made from €180 to €250 with runners making from €350 to €740 for continental lots.

  “Castlerea Mart would like to wish all its customers a Prosperous 2019. Our first sale of the New Year will take place on January 10th. Until then, Slán agus Beannacht”.
