“There were good numbers on offer at Roscommon Mart in the past week with a steady trade in last Friday’s cattle sale as well as the weanling sale on Tuesday. Wednesday’s sheep sale saw a strong demand for both lambs and cast ewes.
“There will be a special sale of heifers this Friday (22nd) at 11 am with 64 pens on offer as well as bullocks and dry cows. Friday, November 29th will see an end of month special sale of bullocks, heifers and dry cows with bookings accepted until 5 pm today (Thursday).
“There will also be an end of month special sale of weanlings on Tuesday next (26th) at 5 pm and bookings are also accepted until 5 pm today.
“Sheep sales, meanwhile, continue each Wednesday at 11 am for lambs and cast ewes. Please note that all sheep must be tagged with a full yellow EID Tag set”.

“There were 800 cattle on offer last Thursday with a sharper trade prevailing for all classes of stock on offer. The heifer ring reported a good clearance with breeding heifers in strong demand, while the weanling rings reported good demand this week with northern customers, feedlots and agents along with a good attendance of farmers driving the trade. Breeding stock runners and the dry cow rings reported good clearances also.
“Cows with calves at foot made from €1,080 to €1,680 per head. Springers made from €780 to €1,490 per head. There were good numbers of runners on offer again this week with Hereford and Angus crosses making from €250 to €550 and Continental lots making up to €825.
“There were 250 bullocks on offer at Monday’s sale and the younger cattle were an improved trade this week with a good attendance of customers present.
“Sales continue at Castlerea Mart on today (21st) with our weekly sale of heifers, cows, calves, runners and weanlings. All sales commence at 11 am”.
