“There were similar numbers on offer this week with a steady trade and a good clearance of lots. Prices for bullocks were improved with prices ranging from €2.17 per kilo up to €2.47 per kilo. Heifer prices averaged from €2.18 per kilo up to €2.59 per kilo.
“Once again this week there was a good entry of dry cows with lots making from €1.56 per kilo up to €181 per kilo. Sales continue on Friday with our weekly sale for bullocks, heifers and dry cows. Full details on our facebook and website pages
“There will be a special sale of bullocks on Friday, February 8th. Bookings accepted up to 5 pm today.
“There were better numbers on offer at this week’s weanling sale with a firm trade for all classes. Bull weanlings fetched from €2.49 per kilo up to €3.25 per kilo. Prices for weanling heifers ranged from €2.26 per kilo up to €2.83 per kilo with a complete clearance of lots.
“Springer cows made from €920 up to €1,145. There is no wealings sale next Tuesday (5th). There is a special sale on Tuesday, February 12th at 5 pm. Bookings accepted up to 5 pm on Thursday, February 8th. There will also be a special entry of 14 excellent quality homebred Limousin in calf heifers, calving February/March in calf to P.B. Lim Bull (replacement value €144) most Heifers are 4 and 5 stars from disease free herd.

“Slightly bigger numbers of stock presented for sale this week with trade and prices similar to last week and in the case of the better quality weanlings prices were improved. The bullock and heifer rings reported good clearances also with a good attendance of customers present trying to source stock.
“Cows with calves at foot made from €900 to €1,440 per head. Springers made from €820 to €1,665 per head. Young calves made from €40 to €335 per head, with stronger runner type lots making from €300 to €845 for continental lots.
“Sales continue at Castlerea Mart today (Thursday 31st) with our usual sale of bullocks, heifers, cows, calves, runners and weanlings. All sales commence at 11 am”.
