“Good numbers of stock presented for sale on Thursday last with our sale well attended by farmers and feedlot agents sourcing stock. Prices and trade were similar to the previous week with demand strongest for the quality lots on offer. Overall, a good clearance took place for all categories of stock presented for sale.
“Cows with calves at foot made from €1100 to €1640 per head. Springers made from €720 to €1,220 per head. Calves/Runners made from €140 to €280 with stronger lots making €320 to €765 for the continental lots.
“Sales continue at Castlerea Mart today (Thursday 20th) with our final sale for 2018 bullocks, heifers, cows, calves, runners and weanlings on offer.

“There were smaller numbers on offer at Wednesday’s sheep sale. Prices for finished lambs peaked at €115 for 55.4kgs. Store lambs fetched up to €90. There was a similar trade for cast ewes from the previous week with prices ranging from €20 up to €115. Sales resume on Wednesday, January 9th at 11 am for lambs and cast ewes. Cast ewes made from €20 to €115 per lot.
