Roscommon minor footballers produced their best performance of the year so far when they outclassed Sligo by 0-17 to 0-8 at Markievicz Park on Friday night.
James Duignan’s men where in control from the first whistle and with Niall Heneghan, John McGuinness, Ryan Hanley and Sean McDonnell outstanding Roscommon led by 0-11 to 0-4 at half time. Roscommon suffered a severe setback six minutes into the second half when talisman Heneghan was shown a straight red card for an off the ball clash.
But Roscommon coped admirably with 14 men and they ran out comfortable winners. Roscommon now play Mayo in the Connacht semi-final in Castlebar in two weeks time. Galway have qualified for the final.
