Roscommon LEADER Partnership is pleased to welcome the opening of the 2026 Outdoor Recreation Infrastructure Scheme (ORIS), and is inviting community groups, voluntary organisations, clubs, and other eligible stakeholders across County Roscommon to submit Expressions of Interest for funding opportunities under the scheme.
ORIS, funded by the Department of Rural and Community Development and the Gaeltacht, is administered through local authorities and aims to support the sustainable development of outdoor recreation amenities throughout rural Ireland. The scheme seeks to enhance and expand recreational infrastructure, improve accessibility, and encourage greater participation in outdoor activities while supporting rural tourism and community wellbeing.
Roscommon LEADER Partnership is now accepting Expressions of Interest from eligible applicants under three categories: Measure 1, Measure 2, and the Project Development Measure.
Measure 1 supports the development and enhancement of small-scale outdoor recreation infrastructure projects. Funding is available for projects that improve existing amenities or create new opportunities for outdoor recreation at a local level.
Measure 2 supports more substantial infrastructure projects that have the potential to deliver significant benefits for local communities, visitors, and the wider rural economy. Projects should demonstrate strong community support and a clear recreational need.
The Project Development Measure provides support for the planning, design, and preparatory work required to develop larger outdoor recreation projects. This measure enables communities and organisations to advance projects to a stage where they can compete for future capital funding opportunities.

These investments help create vibrant rural communities and improve the quality of life for residents and visitors alike.”
