Roscommon GAA VHI Cul Camps Week 4 The Roscommon GAA VHI Cul Camps programme for week four has camps in Padraig Pearses GAA Club (hurling), and O’Rourke Park, Castlerea (football) from next Monday 23rd July to Friday 27 th from 10 am to 2.30 pm.    County Co-Ordinator Willie Hegarty (GAA Games Manager) on 086-8356227.    Price €60 1 st child; €100 for two; €140 max. for family.  VHI Cul Camps numbers for first two weeks of camps We have held two weeks of camps so far and despite the poor weather the numbers attending our football and hurling camps have being excellent and they are as follows: Dr. Hyde football (165), Abbey Park, Boyle (83), St. Dominic’s hurling (77), Dr. Hyde Park football (168), Elphin football (105) and Four Roads hurling (71).    We thank the venues who have allowed us hold the camps along with Roscommon Community College who allowed us to use their facilities at short notice during the first week. Strokestown GAA club held U8 football blitz Well done to Strokestown GAA club who held an U8 football blitz day for 5 clubs recently in their GAA pitch. It is great to see clubs holding these types of blitz for our young players and we encourage more clubs to do likewise. The team that took part were Strokestown, Tulsk, Elphin, Kilmore and Kilbride. By all accounts everyone had a great day. Ted Webb Cup semi-final on Friday On this Friday evening July 20 th Roscommon will play Galway County in the Ted Webb cup intercounty U16 football semi-final in Ballyhaunis at 7pm. Good luck to all concerned. U14 football division one championship final It’s the battle of the saints in this years under 14 football division one championship final on this Saturday July 21 st   as St Dominic’s and St Brigid’s go to battle in what should be a hugely entertaining final between two skillful teams.   U14-15 hurling development coaching in Athleague Just a reminder to all under U14-15 players that a development squad hurling coaching session will take place in Athleague on this Saturday morning at 10 am sharp. U15 football development squad training in Kilbride Roscommon Coaching and games development have picked a squad of 40 players which shall consists of two panels of 20 and training continues for all players on this Tuesday evening July 17th in Kilbride at 7 pm sharp. Training will be twice monthly over the summer months; players must bring their own water and fruit to training at all times. U14 football development squad training in Kilbride Roscommon coaching and games development have picked a squad of over 40 players which shall consist of two panels and training continues for all players on next Tuesday evening July 24th in Kilbride at 7 pm sharp. All players must bring their own water and fruit to the sessions.   Hurling helmets for schools and clubs If any primary schools or hurling clubs wish to purchase helmets at cost price they can do so by contacting Games Manager Willie Hegarty at the Roscommon GAA County board office. Juvenile helmets cost €50 while adult cost €60. Sliothar deals for schools and clubs The Coaching and Games Development are now in a position to offer sliothars to schools and clubs at €5 each or €60 a dozen. Please contact Games Manager Willie Hegarty for more information. An adult sliothar will also cost the same price. Hurleys for schools and clubs We are also in the same position to offer hurlers as we have a company who can supply us with hurleys for underage players. 32′ will cost €16, 34′ at €18. Once again contact Willie Hegarty for more information.  Coaching DVDs for sale The Roscommon Coaching and Games Development have some excellent coaching DVDs for sale from their coaching workshops held over the past few months, coaching the tackle with Des Newton, fitness with the ball by Mickey McGeehan, forward play by Martin McHugh and a coaching session with All-Ireland winning Kerry manager Jack O’Connor. All DVDs cost €10 and can be purchased from Games Manager Willie Hegarty at the Roscommon GAA County Board Office or by contacting coaching officer Seamus Sweeney.
