Roscommon GAA County Board launch major draw this month

Roscommon GAA Co. Board are launching their second annual fundraising draw this month. It follows last year’s phenomenally sucessful draw, the profits from which saw the Board go a long way towards raising the necessary funding to run the affairs of the Board over the year.   This year’s draw is bigger and better than last year’s. There is a prize fund this year of €120,000 (up from €100,000 last year).    There are twelve monthly draws again and this year there are four cars (last year there were two) and eight exotic holidays.   In addition this year there are twelve monthly second prizes of a weekend for two people at any of the Lynch Group Hotels which includes two nights B & B plus one evening dinner.   The draw is very good value and costs just €100 to enter. Tickets are available through the various GAA clubs and an incentive scheme for the clubs that was put into place last year is in operation again.   This means that there is a direct benefit to the  local club for each ticket sold in that area.   Speaking to The People Roscommon Co. Secretary Seamus Maher says that the draw is a win-win situation for Roscommon GAA.   ‘It costs in the region of €1 million to run the affairs of Roscommon Co. Board now and if we want to continue to progress Roscommon football and hurling then we have to keep raising the finance to do so.   ‘Last year’s draw was sucessful but we need to make this year’s a success too’ he said.    ‘There is a good incentive for the clubs again this year. Last year we paid out up to €85,000 in commission on ticket sales and it is a good way for a club to raise money as there is no risk involved and no advertising.   ‘We got great co-operation from the clubs last year and we were delighted with that and we are sure we will get the same this year. The Co. Board are simply representing the clubs of the county and everyone will benefit from another sucessful draw’ Mr. Maher added.    The opening draw will take place at the end of April when the top prize is a family holiday for four people for 14 nights in Orlando or €4,500.   In May the top prize is a Ford Mondeo car supplied by Peter Casey & Sons, Roscommon or a cash prize of €23,000.   The prizes continue with holidays in Canada,Lanzarote, a trip around the World, the USA, Dubai and Maritius, Florida and South Africa.   All the holidays are being organised by East West Travel in Roscommon.   There is also a Nissan Note 1.4-5 door car  supplied by Cooney Motors, Boyle as the top prize in August. There’s Ford Focus supplied by Casey’s in November and a Nissan Micra supplied again by Cooney’s in Febuary and of course there are those 12 holidays at any Lynch Group Hotel on offer every month too as a second prize.   It is hoped that the majority of the tickets will be sold over this weekend and over the next week at the latest so the clubs are asked to contact those who joined last year.   ‘It’s a very attractive draw for a modest investment and not alone will you be in line for the big prizes but you will also be helping Roscommon football and hurling’ concluded Seamus Maher.    Details regarding the purchase of tickets can be obtained from any of your local club officers or from The Roscommon Co. Board Office in Roscommon Town.
