Roscommon definitely comes alive during spring with a host of family-friendly events scheduled between now and May.
It begins this Easter Sunday with the Roscommon Easter Parade which starts at 1 pm. The parade is a major event on the town’s calendar and last Easter Sunday was a day which went down a treat among spectators of all ages.
The town will draw a big crowd again as the many floats make their way down through The Square. Last year, despite not yet being elected US President, Donald Trump made an appearance with his wall. Surely he’ll reappear this year on a state visit?
The parade committee has confirmed that there are some great floats entered which should provide strong competition this year. Categories for honours this year include: Community/Voluntary, Commercial, Shop Window Display, Most Entertaining and Best Overall.
The parade is a landmark community event and starts at 1 pm on Sunday and a final call for entries is being issued this week. Anyone interested in taking part should email roscommoneasterparade@gmail.com or call 086-8495751 or 086-3147318 immediately. Late entry fees will apply after Thursday evening.
With so many pubs and eateries in Roscommon town, you couldn’t ask for a better venue. The fun is expected to continue throughout the day and into the evening also.
