Roscommon East Galway?Women’s Football League?

Glen Celtic put the loss to Ballinasloe behind them as they turned on the style against visiting Moylough late on Friday night. A first half virtuoso performance from Siobhan O’Grady cut Moylough’s defence to ribbons and she provided chance after chance for the unstoppable Noelle Connolly who obliged with a hat-trick. Such was the domination by Glen it could easily have been twice the 3-0 lead it was at half-time.    Moylough should have rung changes earlier but waited until the break to bring on Aoife Donoghue who took to a close-marking role on O’Grady and kept her in the póca for the rest of the game. Rebecca McPhilbin starred at midfield for the hosts – pure class, she’s a player in the Paul Scholes mode and deserved no less than to mark her performance with a goal. It finished 4-0.    So it’s back to the drawing board for Moylough ahead of Sunday’s home tie with table toppers Ballinasloe at 11 am.   Kilkerrin conceded their game to Ballinasloe due to off-pitch commitments. Cam and Dunmore postponed until another day. Cam host Kilkerrin this weekend while Shiven host Glen.   Our u12 blitz of Saturday 5 th May was a great success – especially for Dunmore’s young representatives who came out overall winners on the day. There were 8 teams involved which gave everyone 3 games and a final to decide outright champions.    Dunmore lined out in various combinations from the following panel: Catriona Shally (3 goals), Aine Lyons, Edwina Mullins, Sarah Lewis (6 goals), Thomasine Conway (4 goals), Caitlin Maloney (1 goal), Caoimhe Boland (2 goals), Emma Lyons, Clodagh Mullarkey (2 goals), Michelle Burke (1 goal) and Eibhlin Burke. They conceded only 2 goals and scored a total of 19!    Castlerea’s young heroines had to play without substitutes as they had split their contingent into 3 teams on the day. The player of the tournament was Castlerea’s Shelly Taylor who played with a bad gash to her foot to prove it would take more than injury to keep her from glory. She scored two hat-tricks en route to the final and along with team-mates Katriona Killalea, Aine Keenan, Sophie Donnellan, Claire Kelly, Leah Keane and captain Sadbh McDermott performed valiantly against a wonderful Dunmore team.   More info available on regwfl.bebo.com – log in and vote your predictions for this weekend’s matches or leave a comment for your favourite team!     Senior results Glen 4-0 Moylough Ballinasloe 3-0 Kilkerrin (walkover) Dunmore P-P Cam Celtic   Fixtures Moylough v Ballinasloe (Sunday 11 am) Shiven v Glen Kilkerrin v Cam
