Roscommon ease past Sligo in FBD opener

Roscommon footballers have started 2024 with a nine-point win in the FBD League against Sligo in the Connacht GAA air dome in Ballyhaunis. Manager Davy Burke gave five players – Luke Glennon, Caelim Keogh, Declan Kenny, Senan Lambe and Jack Duggan – their debuts and all did well.

The match was very one-sided in the opening half as Roscommon dominated with Niall Daly and Enda Smith on top in midfield. Daire Cregg’s goal in the 26th minute helped Roscommon into a 1-13 to 0-4 half-time lead.

Both sides made a raft of substitutions in the second half and Sligo performed better in that period but Roscommon were already home and hosed. Roscommon will now play London in the semi-final on Saturday, 13th of January. Final score: Roscommon 1-21 Sligo 0-15.
