Roscommon draw Galway in 2008

Roscommon’s senior footballers will have to travel to Salthill to play Galway in the preliminary round of the Connacht SFC next May.    The draw was made last weekend and it will see John Maughan’s Roscommon team play Galway away for the first time since 2003 when Galway beat Roscommon by 0-12 to 0-8 under the managership of Tommy Carr.   Galway have a new manager just appointed (Liam Sammon) and they will be hoping to rebuild after a few disappointing years in recent seasons.    The winners of the Roscommon/Galway game will face New York or Leitrim in the semi-final.   In the other side of the draw Sligo face London with the winners playing Mayo in the other semi-final.
