Disabled people in County Roscommon, along with their families, carers and representative organisations, are being encouraged to contribute to a national review of the Disability Act.
Minister for Children, Disability and Equality Norma Foley and Minister of State Emer Higgins have launched the consultation as work begins on reforming legislation which has seen no significant change in 20 years.
According to Census 2022, 22% of people in Roscommon reported experiencing at least one long-lasting condition or difficulty.
The review will consider areas including the definition of disability, assessment of need, accessibility of public buildings, universal design, employment supports and the use of genetic data.
Submissions can be made in written, audio or video form and participants do not need to address every aspect of the legislation.
The consultation remains open until Friday, October 9th.
