Roscommon Club football is back!

The long wait is over. The Roscommon GAA Club Football Championships resume this weekend, following the easing of Covid-19 lockdown restrictions. Here’s how Seamus Duke sees this weekend’s games going on…(fuller previews, see sport)

The meeting of old rivals Clann na nGael and St. Brigid’s will be fascinating. Meanwhile, Elphin play Strokestown in a derby. I’m predicting wins for Clann and Strokestown.

The very attractive meeting of Roscommon Gaels and Western Gaels brings two old friends (and now rival team managers) Liam McNeill and Fergal O’Donnell together in a head-to-head.

St. Croan’s will be eyeing up a possible victory against Fuerty. I’m predicting a win for Roscommon Gaels and St. Croan’s v Fuerty to end in a draw.

Champs Padraig Pearses can win an intriguing opener against Boyle. Last year’s intermediate champions Tulsk face a tough fixture against a Michael Glavey’s. Glavey’s to win.

All eyes will be on Ballinlough on Sunday when Conor Cox makes his debut for Eire Og against Castlerea St. Kevin’s. I’m predicting a draw.

There is another cracking game on the cards in Elphin when Kilmore face Oran. Oran to win.

St. Faithleach’s are taken to defeat St. Aidan’s and Creggs to overcome Kilbride.

In Group C, St. Dominic’s should start with a win against St. Barry’s. Ballinameen v Shannon Gaels? I’m opting for a draw.
