Roscommon-based athlete wins Edinburgh Marathon

On the 25th of May 2008 Paul McNamara returned to Edinburgh, this time to run the Edinburgh Marathon. Only two months ago he represented Ireland in the World Cross Country Championships in the same city and ran a great race. This time his challenge was 26.2 miles. He had hoped to run a time below 2:20mins but battling against winds of 20mph pushed him beyond his desired times. Nevertheless he ran a superb race and won it in a time of 2:25:06.    Paul, a native of Athenry, has been living in Roscommon two years now and has adopted Mote Park as his training ground. He has found the terrain there extremely suitable to his training schedule and would encourage more runners to use this beautiful park.
