Athlone Nissan Div. 1: St. John’s Athletic 2 Ballinasloe Town 0 St. Johns Athletic beat Ballinasloe Town 2-0 in Lecarrow. Alan Creavin scored a disputed goal in the first half but there was no doubt about the second one, which he scored with fifteen minutes left to play. Prediction: Leaders St. John’s Athletic’s next game is at home to Ahascragh United. I think this one will be a home win. Rahara Rovers 2 Manor United 2 Rahara Rovers were held to a 2-2 draw at home to Manor United in a very tight game. John O’Keeffe scored two for Rahara Rovers and Johnny Burke and Padraig Kearney replied for Manor United. All four goals came in the first half. Prediction: Up next for Rahara Rovers is an away game to Cam Celtic. This will be a very tight game. With only one point between the two of them, I’m going for an away win for the Rovers. Strokestown United 5 Ahascragh United 2 Strokestown United remain in contention for promotion following a 5-2 win over Ahascragh United in Strokestown.    John Rogers scored a hat-trick for the winners and John Hagan added two more. Simon Lennon and Mike Glynn replied for the losers.   Also in Division One Cam Celtic beat Lough Harps 1-0 in Ballinlough. Bear an Raille Division Two The race for the Bear an Raille Division 2 title is really close with five of the ten teams in contention.  C.P Ajax 0 Roscommon Town 1 Roscommon Town beat leaders C.P. Ajax 1-0 at Tarmon. The Castleplunkett ‘keeper Jason Reilly and Roscommon Town ‘keeper Danny Costello were really outstanding and it required a stunning strike from John McHale with twelve minutes left to play to win all three points for Roscommon Town.  Shiven Rovers 2 Glen Celtic 0 Shiven Rovers are the new leaders following a 2-0 win over Glen Celtic in Newbridge.  Noel Dervan and Francis Kilcommins scored for the winners. Laurencetown 2 Ballinagare 0 Laurencetown beat Ballinagare 2-0 in Laurencetown.  Goals from James Hynes and David Nee sealed the win for Laurencetown.  This weekend’s Div. 2 games Glen Celtic v Roscommon Town Roscommon Town go into this game on a high after beating top of the league C.P. Ajax in their last game. Away win for Roscommon Town. Lisnamult Celtic v Laurencetown Lisnamult last game was a good win in the cup over Quayside Celtic; Laurencetown had a fine win over Ballnagare in the league. With two points between the sides and with Lisnamult at home I going for a home win. Casey Ford Division Three K.C. Celtic 3 St. John’s Athletic B 1 In the Casey Ford Division 3 K.C, Celtic beat St. Johns Athletic 3-1 in Kilconnell.  Tommy Shea scored two and Declan Wren one for the winners with Eoin Cattigan pulling a goal back for the losers. Ballymoe F.C. 2 Cam Celtic 0 Good news for Ballymoe F.C. as they picked up their first win of the season after beating Cam Celtic 2-0 away in Brideswell. James and Martin Connaughton scored the goals. Rahara Rovers B 4 Moore United 0 Division 3 leaders Moore United were well beaten – 4-0 – by Rahara Rovers.    The young Brazilian, Vando, scored three in the first half and added a fourth in the second half for Rahara Rovers. Casey Ford Div. 3 Moore United v Castlerea Celtic Moore United are at home to Castlerea Celtic, United go into this game on the back of a bad defeat away to Rahara Rovers and will be looking to win this one to get back on track. Rahara Rovers v K.C. Celtic Rahara Rovers are my team of the week after a great home win over leaders Moore United, Only one winner in this game Rovers to take the points. St. John’s Athletic v Cam Celtic St. John’s Athletic were well beat in their last game going down to K.C. Glen Celtic v Skyvalley Rovers Prediction: Hard game to call with only two points between the two clubs so I am calling this a draw.
