Road safety campaign

Roscommon County Council this week issued advice to drivers and pedestrians as the festive season approaches. The Roscommon Road Safety Together Committee gave the following advice to drivers: Always drive at an appropriate speed for the conditions and circumstances; never drive while imparied by alcohol, drugs or tiredness; wear a seat belt and ensure all passengers front and rear are wearing theirs too and take frequent breaks to avoid tiredness or drive fatigue. Pedestrians are asked to avoid excessive alcohol consumption, walk on a footpath, not in the street, walk on the right-hand side of the road, facing traffic if there are no footpaths, wear bright clothing with a reflective armband and or a vest and carry a torch at night on rural roads.
